First Day of Preschool

Today was our first day of preschool. I say "ours" because I am teaching Carter's class. It went really well. Thankfully Drew stayed home for the morning to take care of Taylor. I wanted the kids to have their first day of preschool with out a curious toddler crawling all over them during circle time. I think the year is going to be fun! I wish I had a couple more kids in the class but four is enough for now. I think Carter really enjoyed his morning. After lunch he took a 3 hour nap- I guess I wore him out!

Twenty minutes after class ended I got a call from the local high school preschool (it's a Virginia thing). We have been on a waiting list for almost a year for Carter....he got in! Hearing that actually made me really emotional...after so many months of waiting and checking in with the teacher...I finally decided to create a preschool experience for Carter in our home. I have put close to 40 hours of preparation (and all of our extra cash) into our class. It was really frustrating to find out that I didn't have to go through all of that work and stress after all. I guess that's how life works some times! Oh well- we will have an adventurous year after all. To fund the class at our house, I am actually teaching a "stepping into preschool" class for 2 year olds on Thursday mornings. I have five kids but two of them are speech delayed so I am crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly. I will be teaching preschool 3 mornings a week. It will be a busy year! I"ll keep you posted!

Here is a picture of Carter with the chalk board behind him. He and his class mates were very cute! Check out our class blog at http://www.stoneridgepreschool.blogspot.com/.

You are truly amazing! I guess you have your public growl moments, but you keep going. Kudos!

That is the most darling picture of Carter!!! Good job taking control of the situation and also offering others the opportunity to go to class. What did you decide for Carter? Is he going to go to the highshcool class too?

Corinne--you are truly an inspiration! I always wanted to do a preschool in my home, but I had too many kids too fast. Maybe once Emma and Justice are in school and Bri and this new baby are ready for preschool I will be able to do it. I will have to pick your brain for ideas. Keep up the good work!!!

Yes, I'm with the masses here. Corinne, you're amazing! I LOVE that you're doing this for Carter and these other kids. I can imagine the preparation that you put in to make it great (as well as the overwhelming emotion when you got that phone call after all of it!). I wish we were there so that Gracie could go to your preschool!

Good Job Corrine! Sounds like an exciting year. I can't believe your little guy is old enough to go to preschool!

Way to take the matter into your own very capable hands Corinne. These little kiddos are in for a treat with you as their teacher this year. :)

Carter is such a big boy now. He gets bigger every time you put up a new picture. He will have a great time in your class.
